Marinella of Selinunte's beach

It's a large extent of sandy of gilded colour.

Marinella shore is a large, sandy, golden beach, along the coast between the acropolis and the Belice river reserve.

It is delimited by the villages of Triscina (west) and Porto Palo (east).

A peculiarity of Marinella coats, are the sandy ¨dunes¨.

Their build up is due to the joined action of the wind and of the roots of the halophilic plants, distributed along the whole shore.

The dunes avoid that the brackish winds reach the hinterland making the land burren.

On the steep faces of the reserve there is the typical vegetation of the rocky slopes as the Doum Palm (Chamerops umilis).

Other interesting plants, are the Ammophila litoralis, the Othantus maritimus, the Echinophora spinosa, the Cakile maritimum and the Pancratium maritimum etc.

The beaches are framed by groves of cluster pines.
